Sarah Mercer is one of the main protagonists in My Bloody Valentine. She is a resident of Valentine Bluffs.
Biography[]
Before the film, T.J. had left town for unknown reasons, and Sarah moved on and began dating Axel. After T.J. returns, he tries to win Sarah back, leading to her being caught in a love triangle between the two, whom nearly come to blows, much to her frustration. She is also best friends with Patty, another resident of the town.
Despite the town’s warnings about holding a Valentine’s Day celebration (due to the past massacre caused by Harry Warden), Sarah and her friends go ahead with their party at the mine’s recreation hall. As the townsfolk are slowly murdered one by one, she manages to escape the killer and survive, along with T.J.
When Axel reveals himself as the killer, with his psyche fractured by childhood trauma after watching his father be murdered by Warden years ago, Sarah and T.J. fight him, who eventually becomes trapped under debris after the mine collapses on him. After the authorities arrive, Sarah realises that, Axel, now completely unhinged, had cut off his own trapped arm and escaped deeper into the mine, laughing maniacally. She hears his final words to her—"Sarah, be my bloody Valentine!"—which deeply haunts her.
