The Route 23 disaster is the featured disaster in Final Destination 2.
The disaster was a pile-up which occurred on May 13th, 2001 on Route 23.
It was caused by a logging truck shedding its load onto the busy highway resulting in multiple highspeed crashes and explosions.
Kimberly Corman had a vision of the disaster shortly before joining the highway and managed to block traffic and prevent several other vehicles from becoming involved.
The disaster killed a total of 18 people including Shaina McKlank, Dano Estevez and Frankie Whitman.
