Randy Meeks is a character from the Scream franchise, appearing as a supporting character in Scream and Scream 2 while making a brief appearance in Scream 3. Randy is the fan favorite of the franchise with many Scream fans angered over his death in the second film. He is noted for being a horror film fanatic and establishing the rules of how to survive horror films (later characters such as Kirby Reed, Robbie Mercer and Charlie Walker would also share Randy's love of horror). Randy was heavily inspired by the character of Radish from the 1981 slasher film Final Exam.

Randy explaining how to survive a horror movie
Randy is the friend of Sidney Prescott, Tatum Riley, Stu Macher and Billy Loomis who is a horror film fanatic and works at a movie rental store. He is the first to suspect Billy and Stu's involvement as killer and later has his most well-known scene of the film where he establishes the rules of surviving a horror film to the partygoers. After Billy reveals himself to be one of the two Ghostface killers, Randy is shot in the chest but survives.
Scream 2[]
Randy now attends Windsor College with Sidney where he has an unrequited crush on her. While mulling over possible suspects for the new copycat Ghostface with Dewey Riley, he establishes rules about horror sequels. In the park, Randy is on the phone with Ghostface, trying to stall him long enough to figure out his location. As Randy begins to insult Billy Loomis, he is pulled into a parked van and stabbed to death by Ghostface (later revealed to be Nancy Loomis.) This makes him the first legacy character who had survived the first film to die.
Scream 3[]
Randy's sister, Martha, snuck onto the Stab 3 production and delivered a tape Randy made before his death.
He knew beforehand, he was probably going to die in the second killing spree, because he lost his virginity and because of the rules of horror movies and that´s why he left this tape, because he also foresaw the possibility of a third killing spree, including one with an unexpected background. So he warned the survivors (Sidney, Gale, and Dewey) of what to expect from a trilogy in the horror field. It is shown, how much Sidney and the others miss Randy, when the tape is played.
