The Dead Meat Wiki

Norval Greenwood is the main protagonist of Come to Daddy.

Biography[]

In the film, Norval is a privileged musician and DJ, who is mentioned to still live with his mother in a mansion in Beverley Hills due to financing issues he struggles with. He also mentions in one scene that he hasn't drunken alcohol in a long time since it left him in a bad state in which he nearly committed suicide.

One day, he receives a letter from his estranged father, Brian, whom he has not seen since he was 5 years old. He follows the address of the letter to a secluded cabin overlooking the beach in Oregon, where he knocks on the door and is greeted by his dad, who oddly, at first, doesn't seem to recognize him, nor remember sending a letter asking him to visit, until Norval reminds him, and he warmly embraces him. At first, the two seem to get along well, but over time, Brian grows more and more aggressive, until it all climaxes one afternoon when he attacks Norval with a meat cleaver, and tries to kill him. In the ensuing struggle, however, Brian has a heart attack and immediately dies.

Shocked by the incident, Norval calls 911, and a sheriff named Ronald Plum comes to his house the next morning. Plum asks if any foul play was involved, to which Norval denies, and Plum trusts him on his claims before leaving. Norval then gets a visit from a coroner, Gladys Klondickle, whom tells him that she can embalm the body, but that she will have to return the body after doing so due to a lack of space at the morgue. After embalming the corpse and helping Norval take body back up to the house, she suggests that Norval spend some time to talk to his dad's body to deal with the grief, which he thanks her for before she leaves.

Norval attempts to stay in the house long enough for his mother to come and get him, but is repeatedly awakened by loud noises coming from somewhere beneath the house. He then finds a family photo album hidden in a cubby hole, and sees a photo of his father, where he realizes that the dead man actually isn't his father at all.

He then finds a hidden hatch underneath a carpet in the house leading to a bunker beneath, where he finds his real father, bloodied and chained up with the words "World's Worst Friend" carved into his chest. Brian thanks Norval for his arrival, and on his father's orders, Norval attempts to kill a man, Jethro, who arrives to torture his father by stabbing him with a pen covered in excrement, but Jethro escapes, promising revenge.

Brian quickly explains to Norval that he fled to Bangkok after leaving his wife, and wound up joining a group of three other men; Jethro, a larger man named Dandy, and Gordon, the man pretending to be Norval's father. At some point, the four had kidnapped the daughter of the richest man in Thailand and successfully held her for a large ransom, but Brian fled the group with their shares of the money and has been on the run from them ever since, funding Norval and his mother's expensive way of life with the money. With time running out, Norval is reluctantly forced to dislocate some of Brian's fingers in order so that he can escape his chains and escape the bunker. There, Brian also tells Norval that Gordon kicked off his ear and gave him a choice to either eat it or drink a glass of his semen, to which Brian chose the former.

Before the two can leave, Norval has an unexpected run-in with Dandy, who begins beating him down. Luckily, Norval is able to fight back by stabbing Dandy numerous times in the crotch with a barbeque fork, then suffocates him with plastic wrap before beating him to death with the rest of the roll.

Norval helps Brian leave the house, but Jethro returns armed with a crossbow, and goes inside the house. Norval realizes that he left a luggage tag inside with his home address on it, and Jethro finds it, promising to travel to the address and kill whomever he finds there (in this case, Norval's mother). Brian advises Norval to hide in Jethro's trunk and kill him when he least expects it; Norval obliges, riding along to a motel where Jethro has arranged a meeting with a sex worker named Precious. While Jethro and the prostitute are engaged in a BDSM session, Norval steals the motel keys and a check spindle, which he uses to slash Jethro's tires. He then attempts to sneak into Jethro's room through an adjoining room, but upon spotting him, Precious holds Norval in a headlock while Jethro stabs him several times with the spindle, then leaves. Precious is horrified that she is an accessory to an apparent murder, but Norval stirs up and makes his way out of the motel.

Upon leaving the motel, Norval witnesses Jethro driving off, before his car shortly crashes into the sign of a burger joint as a result of the slashed-out tyres. Norval goes to investigate the wreckage, and retrives his luggage tag, before noticing Jethro stumbling down the road in front of him. He goes up to him, where he finds that the sign has left part of his skull sliced off. Jethro reveals to Norval that his mother was a prostitute who both Brian and Jethro slept with before Norval takes the reciept spindle out of his cheek and stabs Jethro in the exposed part of his brain with it; Jethro exhales "Arthur!" before collapsing dead.

Norval, wounded but alive, walks on foot back to the house where he left his father and lies down next to him on the lakeside. Norval apologizes to his father for never letting his mother get over him, and the two weakly hold hands together.
