John Towers is the main antagonist in Mayhem. He is played by Steven Brand.
Biography[]
John Towers was the boss of his titular company Towers and Smythe Consulting (TSC). Derek Cho and Kara Powell had gone to speak with him after Derek discovered that a bungled legal case for massive company Vandacorp had been pinned on him by Kara. Despite Derek pleading innocence, John has him fired.
Before Derek can leave the building, however, a SWAT team arrives and forces everyone back inside. The CDC also arrives, and explains via video chat that the building is under quarantine, since it has been infected with the ID-7 virus. They explain that a neutralizing agent was released into the building, with an estimated eight hours for the virus to be obliterated. However, everyone in the building is infected in the meantime, resulting in chaos, violence and sex.
Derek uses the quarantine as an opportunity to get revenge on John for firing him, but as he is taking the elevator upwards, Towers sends his bruiser, Colton Snyder, to deal with Derek and have him thrown into the basement. After doing so, Snyder kncoks Derek out and has him locked up, but Derek manages to escape with the help of Melanie Cross, who had resisted security.
To get back at John, Kara, and the rest of the higher-ups, Derek calls Vandacorp, ensuring his innocence in the mishandled case, and costing TSC a payment from Vandacorp. Furious, John orders Derek to be beaten dwn again, but Derek manages to fight back and beat a security guard to death Derek and Melanie then arm themselves and proceed to kill HR member Lester McGill, using his key card to access Kara's office. After they duel and brutalize five of Kara's coworkers, Kara offers her key card for her own safety, only to discover that her long-suffering assistant Meg has already destroyed it, having been offered a promotion to do it to protect those upstairs. Kara gets furious, and during their arguement, Meg kills Kara and cuts out her tongue.
Whilst Derek and Melanie are taking a rest break, Towers sends them a video of him urinating on Ewen's corpse, which enrages Derek further. After he and Melanie get the code to access the top floor from Irene Smythe (whom they also kill), Derek goes to confront Towers on his own.

Derek reaches Tower's office, where Towers congradulates him for having succeeded in getting to the top floor. Towers offers Derek a position in exchange for letting him live, but Derek refuses, and starts fighting off Towers and his assistants. Eventually, Derek overpowers Towers, and, with the board's encouragement, throws him over the balcony to his death.
