Jarin Carmichael is a supporting character in the 2021 film Old.
Biography[]
Jarin was a nurse and the husband of Patricia Carmichael, a psychologist. He is first shown when the Cappa family notice him (and Charles) helping his wife recover after she has an epileptic seizure. Shortly after, Jarin and Patricia were invited to the beach that makes you old. When they get there, they learn from the others that someone has drowned, and due to the lack of cell service, Jarin elects to head back to town to get help. However, when he tries leaving the beach through the rock canyon they walked through to reach the beach, he suddenly blacks out and stumbles backwards, waking up back on the beach. The group thus realises that they are trapped on the beach.

After the group discovers that the beach is indeed making them old, Jarin, as a last resort, attempts to swim out and get help. However, the mysterious powers of the beach cause him to black out again, and he drowns off-screen. His body later washes up to shore and is found by Maddox.
James gave Jarin's death the Dull Machete because he was a nice character and it was disappointing that he died offscreen.
