Biography[]

According to Job's narration in the opening scene, Isaac was a natural-born preacher who was highly respected by almost everyone in Gatlin, Nebraska, even though Job and his sister Sarah found Isaac to be strange and unusual. One day, however, Isaac turned evil and indoctrinated all of the children in Gatlin (except for Job and Sarah) into a cult based around a mysterious, demonic entity known as "He Who Walks Behind the Rows". He then led the children to massacre all of the adult citizens of Gatlin, with the exception of an old mechanic named Diehl, whom Isaac figured would be useful for the cult since he could supply them with fuel.

Three years after the massacre, Isaac learns that two "outlanders", Vicky and Burt, have arrived in Gatlin. He sends his right-hand man Malachi out to lead a group of children to find and capture them, and while they succeed in capturing Vicky, Burt manages to get away and hide with the help of Job and Sarah.

As the kids tie Vicky to a crucifix in preparation for her to be sacrificed to He Who Walks Behind the Rows, Isaac confronts Malachi, having found out that he and a few other kids murdered Diehl earlier. Later, Isaac and Malachi get into another argument revolving around the sacrifices they have planned later that night. The argument turns aggressive, and ultimately ends when Malachi, sick and tired of Isaac's preaching, takes over the leadership position and orders Isaac to be put on the crucifix instead of Vicky, despite Isaac claiming that he is the only one who He Who Walks Behind the Rows has spoken to regarding the laws of their cult.

Isaac's sacrifice

At night, after Amos sacrifices himself to He Who Walks Behind the Rows, Isaac finds his body being absorbed by a strange, glowing light. After the light fully absorbes him, the crucifix his has been tied to bursts from the ground and flies into the air, apparently killing him. Later, however, Isaac comes back from the dead, his body possessed by He Who Walks Behind the Rows. He is last seen telling Malachi that the entity wants him too before killing him as the rest of the kids flee.
