Hal Hartman is the main antagonist in Leatherface.
Biography[]
Hartman is a Texas ranger called to the scene of a murder. Unfortunately, the victim turns out to be his daughter, Betty. Hartman immediately retaliates against the Sawyers, who did kill her, by taking away the youngest child, Jedidiah.
Ten years later, Jedidiah and several other kids escape from the institute where Hartman places them in and he goes after them with the intent of killing Jedidiah. He finds two separate crime scenes of the bloodshed left behind at the institute and a diner.
Eventually, he finds one of the escaped kids, Clarice, whom he tortures for the others' whereabouts and then kills her in cold blood after she unwisely insults his daughter, showing how psychopathic he is. He catches up with Jedidiah and nurse Lizzy driving away and shoots at them. He hits Jedidiah in the face, disfiguring him, and Lizzy in the shoulder, causing her to crash the car.
Death[]

Hal's death
Hartman holds Jedidiah and Lizzy at a barn, where he plans to get revenge on the Sawyers for his daughter's death, but he is outnumbered and knocked out. At the Sawyer house, Hartman convinces Lizzy to help him, but as they attempt to escape, the Sawyers catch them and order Jedidiah to come down from upstairs. Jedidiah, suffering from apparent memory loss from the trauma and fully transformed into Leatherface, looks menacingly at Hartman and then proceeds to stick his chainsaw into Hartman's torso, brutally killing him once and for all.
