Greg (Bird Box)

Greg is a supporting character in Bird Box.

Biography[]

Greg was the owner of a fancy, postmodern residence. After the suicide pandemic spread to America, Greg decided to be a good Samaritan and allowed a handful of survivors to take refuge in his home, the survivors of which included a pair of teenage lovers, Felix and Lucy, two married couples, Jason and Samantha and Douglas and Lydia, an older woman named Cheryl, a supermarket employee named Charlie, and a war veteran named Tom.

As the chaos continues outside, the survivors notice an injured pregnant woman named Malorie Hayes, and thus Lydia decides to help her, despite Douglass telling her not to. While trying to help Malorie up, Lydia accidentally glimpses at one of the demons, and kills herself by entering a flaming vehicle, which explodes and incinerates her as Douglass watches in horror. Luckily, Tom and Lucy manage to get Malorie safely inside, where she is introduced to the other survivors. The survivors theorize that demonic entities have invaded Earth, driving people insane and causing them to kill themselves, and they proceed to cover the windows and make a pact to always blindfold themselves when they go outside. Later on, however, both Jason and Samantha are killed by the creatures, after they run outside whilst trying to save their children whom they had left at home upon the pandemic's outbreak.

A few days later, another survivor is heard knocking on the front door, begging to be let in. Douglas refuses to open it at first, but Malorie grabs a rifle and points it at Douglas and tells Tom to open the door. He does so, and the survivor, a woman named Olympia, heads inside, where the other survivors find out that she is pregnant. This further irritates Douglas, since the group is running low on food supplies.

Death[]

Greg gets the idea to use his house's surveillance cameras to watch over the creatures in case they try to break inside, surmising that, since he won't be looking at them directly, he won't end up being driven to kill himself. The survivors go along with his idea, and strap him to his office chair to protect himself, so that he won't end up hurting himself in case the idea doesn't work. Unfortunately, his theory is proven wrong, and he dies when he knocks his chair over and bashes his head open on a stone mantle.

Greg is played by BD Wong, best known as Dr, Henry Wu in the Jurassic Park franchise.
It is assumed Greg is likely an architect, hinted at by the various drawings and tools in his office.
