Edward 'Eddie' Caputo is an antagonist in Child's Play.

Biography[]

Eddie became with the crime partner of Charles Lee Ray and they are conspiring to kidnap a girl named Sarah. Charles will abduct the woman while Eddie is sitting behind the wheel of a van, acting as getaway driver. However, the plan goes sour when Detectives Mike Norris and Jack Santos respond to the crime in progress and get into a shooting match with Charles, managing to free the hostage in doing so. When Mike shoots Charles in the leg and a police car arrives, Eddie decides to bail on Charles, despite him screaming and begging for his partner not to leave him behind. Norris orders Santos to pursue Eddie while he goes after Charles.

Eddie manages to escape from Santos and hides in Charles's hideout.

Death[]

When Andy Barclay goes off to use the bathroom, Chucky (the Good Guy Doll possessed with Charles' soul) sneaks into his house and disconnects the gas line to the stove. This noise alerts Eddie, he arms himself and approaches his kitchen, likely thinking the police have found him or an intruder is present. Eddie fires a shot at a noise, resulting in the home exploding, which claims his life. The police find Andy nearby, and he tries to explain that Chucky told him to take him there. Not believing his story, they think Andy played some role in Eddie's death or witnessed it.

When he was younger in 1972 at a foster boarding home, a teenage Charles Lee Ray is seen living there with other children, including his young and future accomplice Eddie Caputo. Charles kills the home janitor and in an innocent game, he scares other children when they see the janitor's body in a forest. Eventually, he leaves the home and bids farewell to Caputo, leaving him a unique present in a box in the form of the janitor's severed hand.
