Detective Wayne Bailey-Kirsch is the main antagonist in Scream VI, the sixth installment of the Scream movie franchise.

Biography[]

Richie Kirsch, Quinn Bailey, and Ethan Landry were the three children Wayne and an unknown lady had together after their marriage. Wayne catered to Richie's passion of the Stab movie series and used his position as a top investigator to acquire evidence from earlier Ghostface homicides to aid in the construction of a shrine in a dilapidated theater in New York City. Richie and Woodsboro adolescent Amber Freeman devised a scheme, potentially unknown to his father, to mimic the events of a new Stab movie. As a result, Richie was stabbed and died by Sam. After his passing, Wayne had resentment for losing his son, and this further grew when Gale Weathers wrote a book describing the incidents. Wayne was furious and wanted to get even with Sam and Tara. They devised a plan to travel to New York, where Sam and Tara were currently residing, with Quinn and Ethan's help. While Ethan developed a new persona utterly unrelated to them, Wayne accepted a post as an NYPD Detective and continued to present himself and Quinn as father and daughter.

In order to complete the "movie" that Richie and Amber intended to produce, Jason concocts a plan with his roommate Greg Bruckner to murder sisters Samantha Carpenter and Tara Carpenter. Jason gets a call from a different Ghostface, who informs him that Greg has been slain. Jason is then fatally stabbed by this Ghostface. A Ghostface mask used in the 2011 Woodsboro killings is left behind after Ghostface assaults the sisters.

The sisters visit Quinn's detective father Wayne Bailey in the NYPD police station, along with FBI special agent Kirby Reed, a victim of the 2011 killings, and reporter Gale Weathers, who informs the sisters that she talked to Sidney Prescott and has gone into hiding to protect her family. Ghostface kills Sam's therapist while stealing Sam's paperwork and leaving behind a mask used in the Hollywood crimes. Gale leads the party to an abandoned theater she came upon while doing research, where it has been transformed into a shrine to the Ghostface killers, complete with several pieces of evidence from earlier homicides that have been exhibited like movie props.

Chad is attacked by two Ghostfaces who emerge. Both Wayne and Kirby enter with their weapons drawn. Wayne makes an effort to support the theory that Kirby is the assassin, only to shoot her and expose himself as a third Ghostface and the perpetrator; his collaborators are his children, who are later identified as Ethan and a still-alive Quinn who faked her death to allay suspicion.

The three admits that they are Richie's relatives seeking to get revenge for his passing. They were behind Sam's online slander, and they want to blame her for their murderous rampage. Tara stabs Ethan, and Sam kills Quinn while momentarily knocking Wayne out cold as Sam and Tara take the initiative and defeat the Bailey family.
