The Dead Meat Wiki

David Burr is the main protagonist/villian of the "Ruby Gates" segment of Tales from the Hood 3. He is played by London Brown.

Biography[]

David was a slumlord who owned the Ruby Gates apartment complex. He was planning to demolish it and replace it with high-rent modern condos, seeing as the complex was nearly abandonded, but couldn't since there was one unit still occupied, which was owned by Paul and Staci Bradford, who refused to move out since their son Ethan had cancer, and they didn't want to aggravate it through stress.

Since David's client Joe has been threatening to sue him if he doesn't sell the apartment, he decides to get help from an associate named Mickey whom specialises in arson. The two formulate a plan to start a fire in the kitchen, which will give the Bradfords plenty of time to escape the apartment due to the fire alarm activating, leaving them unharmed whilst also allowing David to be able to sell and demolish the apartment. Mickey puts the plan into action that night, but due to the faulty fire alarm system, it goes wrong, and results in the Bradfords all burning to death.

Death[]

Following the incident, Burr begins being pestered by the vengeful spirits of the Bradfords, who begin haunting him through menacing phone calls. He decides to kill Mickey in order to sever his connection to the incident, but the hauntings persist, and he eventually decides to face it head-on at Ruby Gates. There, he is further pestered by visions of Ethan's basketball bouncing towards him, a clown jumpscaring him in the apartment closet, and the ghosts of the Bradfords chasing him whilst on fire.

Eventually, the hauntings culminate in the Bradford ghosts all appearing before David, following which Ethan throws a flaming basketball at David, which sends him flying backwards out the 3rd story window to his death.
