This article is about the character from the 2002 film. You may be looking for Chris Hargensen (1976) or Chris Hargensen (Remake).

Chris Hargensen is a secondary antagonist in Carrie (2002).

Biography[]

Much like her other counterparts, Chris is a popular student at Thomas Ewen Consolidated High School, and also has a boyfriend named Billy Nolan. In this adaptation, however, she is also best friends with Tina Blake, and also has a father named John who works as a lawyer (these two characters had been missing in the 1976 film, but they also show up in the 2013 film).

Chris and the rest of the popular girls would frequently bully Carrie White. Following an incident where Chris and her gang harassed Carrie in the locker room after she had a panic attack during a menstrual session, they are scolded by their gym teacher Miss Desjardin, who gives the girls a week's detention. When Chris tries to talk back, Miss Desjardin bands her from prom entirely.

Enraged and seeking vengeance, Chris, Billy and some other friends sneak into a pig farm, where Billy slaughters a pig with a sledgehammer and collects its blood. They then use it to fill up a bucket hiding in the rafters above the stage in the gym, and at the prom, when it comes time to vote for prom king and queen, Tina has the ballots swapped out for faked ones, so that Carrie and Tommy would end up being declared the winners, and both be brought on stage. When the two get on the stage, Chris releases the rope attached to the bucket, which sends the blood all over Carrie. Chris and Billy then flee, but while doin so, Chris releases the rope and the bucket falls on Tommy's head, killing him.

Following the blood dump, Carrie goes into a shock-induced trance and locks all the doors inside the gym, causing chaos to break out. During the mayhem, most of the occupants the gym are killed, aside from a handful of people who manage to escape through a vent with Miss Desjardin.

After the school is destroyed, a friend of Billy's named Jackie Talbot (who managed to survive the massacre) rushes to Billy's house (where Chris is also is), and informs the two that Carrie is destroying the town. Chris and Billy both proceed to head out in their car to track her down, and when they see Carrie in the road, Billy tries to run her down. However, Carrie simply uses her telekinetic powers to lift Billy's car into the air, and crushes it against a tree, killing both Chris and Billy.
