Chris Hargensen is a secondary antagonist in Carrie (1976). She is played by Nancy Allen.

Biography

Chris Hargensen was a popular and attractive student at Bates High School, and she led a gang of other girls who would frequently bully their shy classmate, Carrie White.

Following an incident where Chris and her gang harassed Carrie in the locker room after she had a panic attack during a menstrual session, they are scolded by their gym teacher Miss Collins, who tells them that they will have to endure a week of disciplinary excersice as punishment. During the excersicing, Chris tries to rebel against her detention, but Collins responds by slapping her across the face, and bans her from prom entirely.

Chris is furious, and, swearing vengance, she recruits her boyfriend Billy Nolan to formulate a plan to play a prank on Carrie and get back at her (convincing him to do so via performing fellatio on him). That night, she, Billy, and some other friends break into a pig farm, where Billy proceeds to slaughter one of the pigs with a sledgehammer. They then take the pig's blood in a bucket and take it into the high school gym, where they use it to fill up a bucket set in the rafters above the stage.

At the prom, Chris and Billy hide underneath the stage as they prepare to set up their prank. After Norma collects the voting ballots for prom king and queen, she secretly has then swapped out for faked ones, before handing them to the vote counters. The forged ballots lead to Carrie and Tommy Ross being announced prom king and queen, and after they go on stage, Chris pulls on a rope attached to the bucket, tipping it over and sending the blood pouring all over Carrie. Chris and Billy quickly escape the gym through a back door.

Whilst almost everyone in the gym is left shocked into silence by the prank, Carrie hallucinates that everyone at the prom is laughing at her, and thus goes into a silent-psychotic breakdown which causes her to unleash telekinetic fury upon the crowd, killing several people after a fire breaks out and burns down the whole school.

Having witnessed the whole massacre, Chris and Billy try to run down Carrie with their car. However, Carrie simply uses her telekinesis to send their car flipping over, before exploding it and incinerating both Chris and Billy.
