Biography[]

Chris Dubasage was a freelance journalist who hosted a mildly successful true-crime podcast. His father, Norm Dubasage, was a famous award-winning news reporter, but Chris grew to resent him because he was more focused on his legacy and reputation than his family.

In 1987, Chris was still a teenager, and was a photographer for the high school he went to. As a result, he personally knew the three victims of the Sweet 16 killings; Tiffany Clark, Marisa Song and Heather Hernandez. The girls were are murdered in the same way by a mysterious killer; they were each stabbed 16 times on the nights of their 16th birthdays. Coincidentally, the three girls were all part of a group of mean girl bullies called "the Mollys".

Many years later, as an adult, Chris covered the Sweet 16 killings on his podcast, and it proved to be a popular episode. As a result, Chris, sick and tired of living in his father's shadow, eventually decided to don the Sweet 16 killer's costume and murder the only surviving member of the Mollys, Pam Hughes, in an effort to keep the story alive. Chris would quickly cover Pam's murder on his podcast in an effort to earn himself more attention.

Later, Pam's daughter Jamie would go to chat with Chris, having noticed that he was texting her mom prior to her death. Here, Chris would lie and claim that he and Pam were working together to try and finally figure out who the Sweet 16 Killer was. He also showed her a note reading "YOU'RE NEXT ONE DAY", and claimed that Pam had recieved it from the killer following the original three murders. In reality, however, the note was forged. That night, Chris would don the Sweet 16 Killer's outfit again and try to murder Jamie in an effort to create even more content for his podcast. He chased her into Billy's Boardwalk, the local abandoned amusement park that was being used for an upcoming high school science fair.

Unfortunately for him, his attack inadvertedly triggered a time travel machine built by Jamie's best friend Amelia Creston which sent Jamie back in time to October 27 of 1987, the day the original murder spree started. As a result, Jamie began to alter the course of history by trying to alert the Mollys of the serial killer that was going to kill them, believing that by doing so, she could save her mom from being murdered in the future. Meanwhile, Chris and Amelia began working together to fix the time machine and save Jamie. After fixing it, however, Chris knocked Amelia unconscious, then donned the Sweet 16 killer costume a third time and time-travelled back to Halloween 1987 to kill Jamie.

Since Jamie's altering of history changed some of present-day Chris's memories, Chris was able to find Jamie within the Billy's Boardwalk haunted house, where she, a teenage Pam, Marisa and their friends had successfully killed the killer thanks to Jamie's help, and had discovered him to be Doug Summers, who was seeking revenge on the group for the death of his girlfriend Trish, who died when the Molly's bullying went too far. Chris then appeared and slit Marisa's throat, then chased Jamie and Pam out of the haunted house and throughout the amusement park. During the chase, Chris saw Norm making a news report at the amusement park, and decided to kill him on live TV in order to "spare" his teenage self.

Chris's death

After chasing Jamie onto the Quantum Drop -- the amusement park's gravitron (which Jamie and Lauren are using as a time machine to get Jamie back to the present), Chris prepares to kill Jamie as the attraction begins to spin at high speeds. However, Pam then appears and fights the killer. Pam successfully unmasks Chris before falling out of the ride. Chris reveals his motivations to Jamie and tries to kill her as the fight in the centre of the ride, but Jamie fights back with a nail gun before shoving Chris backwards. Due to the extremely fast spinning speeds of the ride, Chris explodes into mist upon impact.

Meanwhile, the teenage Chris from the alternate timeline grows up traumatised by his father's murder, and, by 2023, has gone to India to do some soul-searching.
