Chelsea Blythe

Chelsea Blythe is a major character in President's Day. She is played by Nicolette le Faye.

Biography[]

Chelsea was one of the participants running for Student President. She is the "popular mean girl" stereotype, making fun of one of her competitors, Maxine, for being in a wheelchair.

After Maxine goes missing (having been murdered by the killer), Chelsea tears down her campaign posters, seeing as she is now out of the running. She also gets angry with another competitor, Joanna Bolen, for her marketing tactics, and threatens Joanna to drop out of the running or else. She starts bragging that she is going to win no matter what.

After a handful of other student candidates are murdered, the school's principal, Huck, announces that the election is being cancelled. Huck also tells Chelsea and Barry that they want to briefly pull them out of school for their own safety. This upsets Chelsea since she worries that it'll hurt her chances of being valedictorian., and she thus starts a school petition to reinstate the election.

Later on, after Mr. Roemer is falsely declared as responsible for the murders (thanks to a staged suicide), the school declares it safe to reinstate the election, much to Chelsea's glee. Voting is held that afternoon, but during this, Chelsea is blackmailed by Joanna, with the help of Chelsea's supposed "friends" Jenna and Barbara, after the three play a secret recording of Chelsea shit-talking Joanna over the intercom. Having been blackmailed, her classmates instead decide to vote for Barry Olsen instead.

Strangely enough, however, after the results are tallied, Vice Principal Mackey declares Chelsea the winner over the intercom, despite the fact that Barry earned far more votes. (We see that this was done because the killer was holding Mackey hostage)

Death[]

Later on, Chelsea opens her locker to find a note, supposedly from Officer Kennedy, asking to meet her outside. In the fallout shelter, she discovers a shrine dedicated to herself, and then encounters the killer, who reveals himself as Mr. Wright, her government teacher. He explains that he faked his own death and also killed all of Chelsea's opponents in the election, since he is attracted to her. Wright then pulls back a sheet to reveal a tied-up Joanna, and hands Chelsea a knife so that she can kill her. Chelsea isn't willing to kill her, however, and instead cuts the tape wrapping her arms together. This enrages Mr. Wright, who kills Chelsea by hacking her in the stomach.
