Chela Simpson is the main protagonist/villain in the "Operatic" segment in Tales from the Hood 3. She is played by Savannah Basley.
Biography[]
Chela had been a backup singer, but due to her vocal talents she was looking to achieve more recognition as an individual pop artist. One day, her boyfriend/manager Park offers her a way to get her a few gigs, but tells her that she will have to work as a caretaker at a mansion owned by Marie Benoit in order to remain financially stable.
Upon arriving at the mansion and meeting Marie, Chela learns that Marie had used to be an opera singer, but she only ever had one role (the lead in 'Carmen') due to the racist attitudes she was faced with at the time of her youth, and, by time the Civil Rights Movement was passed, she got too old to be able to perform again. Chela mentions that she is a singer as well, which intrigues Benoit, although her excitement deteriorates due to their different tastes in music.
After Chela learns that Benoit requires blood bags to live, she and Park secretly conspire to murder Benoit and earn her inheritence by replacing the blood bags with those filled with blood of a different type, thus causing Benoit to grow ill and die. They proceed with the plan, and it seems to work at first.

After Chela goes to bed after she and Park have inherited the money, she has a nightmare involving an old man transforming into a demonic-looking Park. She wakes up inside Benoit's bedroom, and slowly realises that she has been transferred into the body of Marie Benoit herself. Park then appears and tosses her over the railing, fatally injuring her. As she dies, Park explains that he and Benoit have been in love for ages, and that whilst he was quick to choose a young body, Marie was "very, very paitent."
Chela then dies, and Marie goes on to inhabit her younger body, as she hosts an audition in her finest Encanto cosplay, very noice!! :D
