Charles is the secondary antagonist in the 2021 film Old.
Biography[]
Charles was a cardiac surgeon, the husband of Chrystal and the father of Kara. They and Charles's mother Agnes had gone on vacation to the Anamika Resort. Charles is first introduced when the Cappa family notice him and Jarin helping Patricia when she has a seizure. Shortly after, the manager of their hotel gives Charles and co. special invitations to a secluded, "secret" beach, which they go to alongside the Cappa family in a shuttle bus.
Shortly after arriving, Charles and his family begin hanging out alongside the Cappas and rapper Brendan "Mid-Size Sedan", whom is also at the beach. However, the fun times end after the Cappa's young son Trent finds the dead body of Brendan's girlfriend, which causes Charles to become suspicious of Brendan. Not long after, Agnes suddenly dies, and it isn't long before the rest of them discover that they're on a beach that makes you old. This spells bad news for Charles, whose schizophrenia is rapidly getting worse due to the effects of the beach, leading him to slash Brendan with a pocket knife when he gets the feeling that Brendan is going to hurt him. However, Brendan's wound quickly heals due to the effects of the beach.
After Prisca's ovarian tumor begins growing to life-threatening sizes, Charles saves her life by performing a surgery and removing the tumor with the help of the other survivors. After this, however, his schizophrenia gets even worse and leads him to become antagonistic towards the other survivors. During an especially violent outburst, he ends up murdering Brendan by brutally stabbing him to death, so the others take him to an isolated area of the beach and take away his knife.
Death[]
By time night falls, most of the other survivors (including Kara) have already died. Charles leaves his place of isolation and, after finding his knife, attacks Guy and Prisca during a schizophrenic episode. Prisca runs away as Charles continues to attack Guy, and she comes back with a rusty knife that was left by a previous victim of the beach. She slashes Charles with the knife, and the rust gets into his blood system, fatally poisoning him.
