At the swap meet where Misty works, MIsty's mother Beverly expresses sorrow over her daughter's breakup. Beverly notices Carl and his new girlfriend at the swap meet. Angry, she follows him into the men's bathroon and stabs him in the back with a firepoker she secretly took from Rosemary Ackerman. The firepoker stabs though Carl's liver, killing him.
