Camp Loman is a minor character in Maximum Overdrive.
Biography[]
Camp Loman was a travelling salesman who would drive around America and attempt to sell people bibles. On June 19, 1987, while driving, Loman found Brett Graham hitchiking on the side of the road, and offered to help drive her to Florida. During the drive, Loman starts touching Brett's legs inappropriately, much to her annoyance and disgust. Brett then hears an emergency announcement on Loman's car radio warning people to get away from the highways, but Loman ignores it, so she grabs the steering wheel and drives the car to the Dixie Boy Truck Stop before getting out of the car and running towards the entrance. Loman runs after her and yells at her, and during their argument, the Happy Toyz Truck attempts to run them over, but Brett pulls Loman to safety just in time. Loman and Brett then head into the truck stop where the rest of the survivors are.
Death[]
Whilst trying to sell a bible to Wanda June and another survivor, Loman sees Zeke the garbage truck smash into his car and cover it with trash. Furious, he runs outside and hurls insults at the truck, only for the Happy Toyz truck to start driving backwards towards him. Rather than dodging to the side, he tries to outrun the truck, but fails as the truck rams him and sends him flying into a mud puddle. Later, at night, the survivors hear Loman crying out for help, and Bill and Curtis venture out to save him via travelling through the sewers. Deke finds Loman before them, and believes Loman to be dead before he suddenly grabs him and demands that he help him. However, Loman then dies shortly after.
James gave his death the Dull Machete because it had too many fakeouts and it ultimately served no purpose other than to have Deke join the group.

- Loman's death scene originally featured a shot of his face falling off (for some reason), but this was removed to avoid an X rating from the MPAA.
