Bughuul

Bughuul is the main antagonist of both Sinister and Sinister 2. He is played by Nicholas King.

Biography[]

Bughuul is an ancient Babylonian pagan deity who consumes the souls of children. He takes on the form of a tall, nightmarish, humanoid creature in the form of a man with pale skin and long black hair. His most distinctive features are his lack of eyes and mouth. It is explained that his mouth was forcibly sewn by his brother Moloch, in retaliation for Bughuul mimicking his sacrificial rituals.

Bughuul also possesses a realm of his own and can travel into the mortal world via symbols of himself. He commits his crimes on humanity by manipulating children to knock their own families unconcious (through the use of a mysterious green liquid introduced near the end of the first film), before killing them in particularly gruesome fashions for his own amusement, whilst also having them create snuff films of their murders by recording them on 8mm film. Bughuul himself often makes appearances in the snuff films to mock the viewers, and he, along with the decaying ghosts of his child accomplices, would haunt the viewer and their family, breaking them down mentally enough to cause them and their family to move to another house, which allows Bughuul to start a new family massacre. (as shown in the first film with the Oswalts.).

Nonetheless, Bughuul is only appeased and "properly worshipped" once he kidnaps his child accomplices into his netherworld and slowly consumes their souls, and is quick to execute any accomplice who fails to kill their family (as shown in the second film with Zach).
