The Dead Meat Wiki

Bubba Hendershot is a supporting protagonist in Maximum Overdrive.

Biography[]

Bubba Hendershot was the owner of the Dixie Boy Truck Stop and the employer of Bill Robinson. He is first introduced when he orders Bill to come to his office and reveals that, since Bill is an ex-convict, he wants him to work an extra hour without pay or else he will have him put back in prison. He then gets interrupted when another one of his employees, Steve Gayton, tells him that Duncan Keller was sprayed in the eyes with gasoline, but Hendershot brushes it off and tells him to "flush" Duncan's eyes.

After waitress Wanda June is injured by an electric knife and a patron is killed by an arcade machine, Hendershot starts getting suspicious. After both Duncan and Camp Loman are killed by the sentient trucks, Hendershot tries and fails to use the radio to call for emergency services, and then gets the survivors to take Duncan's body into the basement so it won't become a distraction. Later, after Connie and Curtis arrive at the Dixie Boy, Hendershot uses a rocket launcher he got from the basement to destroy two of the evil trucks, but does not tell anyone where he got it from. Soon after, Hendershot finds Bill in the basement looking for weapons with Brett and taunts Bill for being a former criminal. Later, at night, after Bill and Curtis rescue Duncan's son Deke and Deke asks what happened to his father, Hendershot reveals that Duncan is dead without offering much empathy, much to Bill and Brett's annoyance.

Death[]

The next morning, a sentient bulldozer and M274 Mule arrive at the truck stop. As the bulldozer begins smashing apart the walls, Hendershot tries and fails to destory the bulldozer with a rocket launcher, and the Mule shoots and kills him alongside a handful of other survivors.
