Bronys Grentz is a supporting antagonist in Hannibal Rising.
Biography[]
Grentz was a member of Vladis Grutas's gang of mercenaries during WWII. During the war, the gang commited a number of crimes, mainly in regards to them looting dead bodies for valuables whilst disgusing themselves as medics. Grentz in particular is shown helping Zigmas Milko take away the Jewish cook of Lecter Castle to be executed offscreen.
Whilst fleeing from Russian tanks, the group ends up stumbling upon the lodge where the Lecter family had been staying after being forced to flee Lecter Castle. They find both Father Lecter and Mother Lecter dead just outside the lodge, alongside various other dead bodies of the Lecter family servants, a Nazi pilot and a few Russian soldiers. Kolnas and the rest of Grutas's group head inside the lodge to find the young and still-alive Hannibal Lecter and Mischa Lecter. After overpowering the two children, Grutas and his men learn that a big snowstorm is coming, and thus they decide to stay in the lodge for the winter, but due to the lack of food, they end up having to kill and eat Mischa, much to Hannibal's horror.
Death[]
8 years later, in 1952, Grentz is working at a taxidermy shop in Melville, Canada. At the end of the movie, after Hannibal has killed Grutas and the rest of his men, he is shown meeting with Grentz at the taxidermy shop, and Grentz is presumably killed by Hannibal since we then see the latter driving away. James gave his death the Dull Machete because it was entirely offscreen and it was weird and frustrating for him to be the final kill of the movie.
