Angelique is the main antagonist of Hellraiser: Bloodline. She is portrayed by Valentina Vargas.
Biography[]
1796[]
In 18th century Paris, Angelique, a former leader of Hell, is summoned by arisocrat Duc de L'Isle. Duc had summoned her using a puzzle box he had commisioned to Phillip Lemarchand, not telling Phillip that his specifications for the box would open the portal to Hell. Duc, alongside his assistant Jacques, had also murdered a peasant girl and used her flayed-off skin to give Angelique a human body. Phillip, however, secretly witnesses the ritual and flees.
Having summoned her, Duc, alongside Jacques, have complete control over Angelique, as long as they make no attempt to get in Hell's way. Some time later, Phillip returns to Duc's mansion to steal back the puzzle box so he can try to use it to close the gateway to Hell. Here, he discovers Duc dead (presumably killed by Angelique after he got in Hell's way). Jacques suddenly attacks Phillip, cruelly reveling in the fact that Phillip's lineage will eternally be haunted from how he has created a portal to Hell. He and Angelique then kill the toymaker.
1996[]
200 years later, in 1996, Angelique and a somehow still-living Jacques (I assume Jacques commanded Angelique to give him eternal life or something?) are still living in Paris. Angelique notices a magazine cover featuring award-winning archietect John Merchant, whom she recongises as a descendant of Phillip Lemarchand. Angelique tells Jacques that she wants to travel to the U.S. and confront John, but Jacques denies her request, since he is comfortable living in Paris and sees no reason in going after John. Because he is getting in Hell's way, Angelique kills Jacques by tearing his heart out.
Angelique travels to the United States, and goes to an awards ceremony that John is speaking at, and which is also being held within one of the buildings he has designed (the one seen at the end of Hellraiser III). John notices Angelique there, and, having recognised her from recent nightmares he has been experiencing, quickly leaves after giving his speech. Having failed to confront him, Angelique instead sets her focus on Mr. Sharpe, a patron of the building the ceremony is taking place in. She lures Sharpe to the basement of the building, and, after retreving the Lament Configuration from one of the basement's pillars, beckons Mr. Sharpe to solve it. After he does, a Hell gateway is opened, and Sharpe is killed.
Pinhead emerges from the gateway, and the two immediantly clash, as Pinhead represents a shift in the ideologies of Hell, which Angelique left behind two hundred years ago. While Angelique believes in corrupting people through temptation, Pinhead is fanatically devoted to pain and suffering. Despite their conflicting views, the pair forge an uneasy alliance to kill John Merchant before he can complete The Elysium Configuration, an anti-Lament Configuration that creates perpetual light and would serve to permanently close all gateways to Hell. Before dealing with Merchant, however, Pinhead and Angelique murder a pair of security guards within John's building, transforming them into the Siamese Twin Cenobites.
Angelique and Pinhead initially collaborate to corrupt Merchant, but Pinhead grows tired of Angelique's seductive techniques and threatens to kill Merchant's wife Bobbi and their child Jack. Having grown accustomed to a decadent life on Earth, Angelique wants no part of Hell's new fanatical austerity, and she intends to force Merchant to activate the Elysium Configuration and destroy Hell, thus freeing her from its imperatives. However, Merchant's flawed prototype fails. Pinhead kills Merchant by decapitating him with a bladed chain, but Bobbi solves the Lament Configuration, sending Pinhead and Angelique back to Hell.
2127[]
Angelique, now a cenobite.
In 2127, Dr. Paul Merchant, an engineer and descendant of both John and Phillip's, seals himself in a room aboard The Minos, a space station that he designed. As armed guards attempt to break through the door, Merchant manipulates a robot within another sealed-off room into solving the Lament Configuration, summoning Angelique (who's now a Cenobite for whatever reason, even though she was already a demon?), Pinhead, and the Twin Cenobites, and also destroying the robot in the process. The guards break through the door and apprehend Merchant, who agrees to explain his motivations to their leader, Rimmer. Paul explains the backstories of his ancestors Phillip and John, and tells the guards that the Minos is actually the perfected version of the Elysium Configuration, which he will use in order to trap the Cenobites and destroy them permanently.
While the guards don't believe Paul's story, the Cenobites overhear Paul's plans to destroy them, and thus break free of the room they are trapped in and start murdering each of the guards one by one. One guard in particular, Carducci, is killed by Angelique after she pulls him halfway through a mirror and decapitates him.
Death[]
Paul Merchant and the armed gaurd's leader, Rimmer, are able to escape the Minos during all the chaos. Paul ends up activating a mechanism, which transforms the Minos into the Elysium Configuration. With perpetual light trapped within the box, the Minos explodes, killing Pinhead and the Cenobites once and for all.
