Detective Adam Barrett (AKA "Frank") is a supporting protagonist-turned secondary antagonist of Abigail. He is played by Dan Stevens, who also played David Collins in The Guest and Herr König in Cuckoo.
Biography[]
Frank is introduced alongside the other kidnappers, immediately calling out Joey's initial hesitation to kidnap a child and exposing her as ultimately willing to. After they succeed, an old ally of his named Lambert guides him and the other kidnappers to a spooky old manor to lay low and collect the ransom money.
Later in the night, Frank is the only member of the group who doesn't take a threat Abigail makes towards Joey that she's "sorry about what's going to happen to her" lightly, and investigates further to see whose daughter they kidnapped. Upon discovering it's Kristof Lazar's daughter he freaks out, leading to chaos erupting among the group. Things only get worse when their victim is revealed to be a vampire who purposely got herself kidnapped.
During his first attempt to capture Abigail he takes a stake to the leg, but manages to keep moving throughout the night in spite of his injury. When the group eventually manages to capture Abigail, he is shocked when she disclosed their identities. Frank then makes a deal with Abigail to release her in return for his survival, but goes back on it once she gives him the information he is seeking (although Abigail's info also turns out to be false).
After Abigail escapes the group's trap, he teams up with Joey to find the power source of the manor, while the other two survivors take a separate route, only for one of them to be offed shortly after thanks to Abigail's bite allowing her to mind control the other one of them. Luckily, he and Joey defeat their mind controlled former ally with the power of sunlight, and also manage to discover the whereabouts of his old ally Lambert, who reveals that he is planning to betray Abigail, and enlists Frank's help.
Death[]
When offered the power to become a vampire, Frank accepts it and is turned by Lambert. However, Frank kills Lambert shortly after, out of revenge for the former's initial betrayal.

Frank exploding after getting staked
Upon fully embracing his vampiric nature, Frank overpowers and briefly feeds upon Abigail - thus becoming more dangerous than his former captor. After threatening to turn Joey into his puppet and kill her son Caleb later on, Joey is desperate and teams up with a weakened Abigail to take Frank down for good. The three engage in a tense battle, with Frank getting the upper hand up to the point where he manages to bite Joey and commands her to stake Abigail. However, Joey turns the stake on him only to fail at stabbing him. Abigail then reveals that a power like mind control takes time to learn, and she manages to bite Frank in return. Abigail and Joey then proceed to overpower and stake him, finally killing Frank and ending his short-lived ambitions once and for all.

James gave him the Golden Chainsaw because it was the biggest, bloodiest, and most well deserved of the film's three explosions.
Trivia[]
- Each of the kidnappers were named after members of the Rat Pack, with his name obviously being inspired by Frank Sinatra, who was also considered the leader of his group.
