AJ Gilbride is the secondary antagonist of Barbarian. He is a sitcom actor whose career was ruined after he was accused of rape by a costar, and who travels to one of the properties he owns at Barbary Street. He was portrayed by Justin Long in his first appearance on the Kill Count.
Biography[]
When the accusations were leaked AJ got fired from the show and lost his money trying to fight the legal battles against him, which resulted in him resorting to staying in one of his properties on Barbary Street. When AJ arrived at the home, he found the belongings of other people. AJ called the company that was renting out the home to fix the problem, but they didn't help and AJ went out to party with his friend.
AJ arrived back home intoxicated and left a voicemail to his costar to apologize before discovering the basement door to be open. He began to inspect the basement before realizing there were tunnels hidden in the basement. Excited at the possibility of more square feet to his property, AJ headed down the tunnels measuring them before hearing growls and grunts. Paranoid he began to run through the tunnels before falling down a hole and meeting a woman named Tess. Tess explained to him that the person that was chasing him just wanted AJ to be her baby. Confused, AJ questioned what she leaned before he was pulled up by a deformed woman who forced AJ down and attempted to breastfeed him allowing Tess to escape.
The Mother ran away after Tess tried to catch her which allowed AJ to run away into another room where he encountered an old man. Initially believing that the old man was another victim of the Mother, AJ tried to help him by moving a desk with a water bottle on it closer to him however AJ soon discovered videotapes of the old man raping various women. Disgustedly turning around AJ saw the old man holding a gun. Believing that the old man was going to shoot him, AJ begged for his life however the man turned the gun towards his head and shot himself, much to AJ's shock.
AJ took the gun from the man's body and ventured through the tunnels. He saw a figure and quickly shot at it before realizing that it was Tess who had come back to save him. AJ helped Tess out of the tunnels where they were discovered by a homeless man who brought them to the water tower for safety. The homeless man explained that The Mother was a product of decades of rape and incest and that they would never be found in the water tower. AJ started reflecting on whether he is a good person or not before the Mother broke through the water tower killing the homeless man.

AJ's death
Tess and AJ ran up the water tower trying to get away from the Mother. AJ attempted to pull out the gun but he dropped it down the water tower losing their only chance of protection. AJ, realizing that there was no way both of them could survive threw Tess off of the water tower causing the Mother to jump after her presumably killing them both. AJ went to check on Tess and began to apologize before he was picked up by the still-alive Mother who gouged her fingernails into his eyeballs and ripped his head apart. James give him the Golden Chainsaw because he deserved it the most.
